Condition & Value Assessment
Condition Grade
Near Mint (NM 7)
Estimated Market Value
Raw: $5 - $15; Graded PSA 10: $300 - $500; Graded PSA 9: $40 - $60
Recent Sales
Recent eBay sales for raw copies range from $3 to $12 depending on condition. Topps recently released a 'living set' version that sometimes confuses pricing, but the 1991 original remains a staple. PSA 10 copies have sold between $350 and $480 in the last 6 months.
Condition Details
The card exhibits slight corner softening, particularly on the bottom right. Centering appears slightly shifted towards the bottom. The top edge shows minor surface chipping/wear characteristic of 1990s Pro Set gloss. The surface has a few visible light scratches/scuffs under direct light.
Grading Recommendation
Only worth grading if the condition is flawless (Potential Gem Mint). For this specific copy, the corner wear and centering likely preclude a 10, making grading costs higher than the potential value increase. Keep raw unless it looks absolutely perfect upon loop inspection.
Card Description
Bill Belichick is depicted as Head Coach for the Cleveland Browns. He is wearing a classic brown satin Browns starter-style jacket and is shown in a coaching pose with his hands up. The design features a red/orange banner with his name and position and a brown team name block at the bottom. The Pro Set logo is in the top left corner.
Notable Features
This is widely considered Bill Belichick's true rookie card as it was released during his first year as a head coach. It is highly collectible as he is one of the most successful coaches in NFL history. This card was part of the massive overprinting ‘Junk Wax’ era, but because it is a coach RC, it holds more value than most base cards from the set.
Authentication Notes
Genuine 1991 Pro Set stock. The 'The Official NFL Card' text and Pro Set logo fonts are consistent with mass-produced 1991 parallels. No signs of modern reproduction or trimming visible.
